 Vietnam Curent Coins

17 December, 2003, the SBV issued coins with 3 denominations: 5,000 VND, 1,000 VND and 200 VND. On 01 April, 2004 SBV issued coins with 2 denominations: 2,000 VND and 500 VND. Reissuing coins  not only marked Vietnam currencies’ stability of value, but also improved Vietnam currency system, marking it to international practices and reducing costs of issuing currencies with small denominations.

1. Coin 5,000 VND.

- Issuing date: 17/12/2003- Diameter: 25.50 mm- Weight: 7.70 g- Thickness of edge: 2.20 mm- Color: reddish yellow - Material: Alloy (CuAl6Ni2)
- Rim of coin: shell – shaped- Front side: The Vietnamese emblem- Back side: Line “ THE STATE BANK OF VIETNAM, Denomination 5,000 VND, Picture of One Pillar Pagoda

2. Coin 2.000 VND.

- Issuing date: 01/4/2004- Diameter: 23.50 mm- Weight: 5.10 g- Thickness of edge: 1.80 mm- Color: reddish yellow - Material: bronze plated steel
- Rim of coin: 12 – section serrated side- Front side: The Vietnamese emblem- Back side: Line “ THE STATE BANK OF VIETNAM, denomination 2,000 VND, picture of the Dragon House .

3. Coin 1,000 VND.

- Issuing date: 17/12/2003- Diameter: 19.00 mm- Weight: 3.80 g- Thickness of edge: 1.95 mm- Color: reddish yellow - Material: bronze plated steel
- Rim of coin: consecutively seerrated side- Front side: The Vietnamese emblem- Back side: Line “ THE STATE BANK OF VIETNAM, denomination 1,000 VND, Picture of Đô Temple.

4. Coin 500VND.

- Issuing date: 01/4/2004- Diameter: 22.00 mm- Weight: 4.50 g- Thickness of edge: 1.75 mm- Color: Silver white - Color: Niken plated steel
- Rim of coin: 6- section serrated side- Front side: The Vietnamese emblem- Backside: Line “ THE STATE BANK OF VIETNAM, denomination 500 VND, traditional pattern .

5. Coin 200VND.

- Issuing date: 17/12/2003- Diameter: 20.00 mm- Weight: 3.20 g- Thickness of edge: 1.45 mm- Color: Silver white - Material: Niken plated steel
